SUBMERGED

FLL 2024/25 Submerged: This year, our team consisted of 5 members – Mirtel, Greete, Karl, Romet, and Oliver. The team name remained the same. The main challenge of this season was communication and finding a common meeting time. We mostly met in the robotics class whenever someone had time. However, we were able to get most of the team together on Thursdays. We achieved a lot and accomplished even more because of it. For the first time, we built a unique gearbox for the robot. Our innovationproject was focused on the efficient study of jellyfishes. Our problem: Catching jellyfishes with unsafe, forceful, and clumsy tools damages the specimens, making their study inaccurate. The solution was a robot called Millicon – a remote-controlled turtle-shaped robot that collects jellyfishes and transports them to the research base. In the semifinals, we succeeded and won the Master Trophy. Now, we are already preparing for the finals! ;)

Our Master Trophy and Laagri Leivapätsikesed's Core Values Trophy from the semifinals.

MASTERPIECE

FLL 2023/24 Masterpiece: This year's team composition remains the same – Mirtel, Oliver, Greete, and Karl Joonas. We are still the "Laagri JR. Unicorns." Anyway, this year we had a very fun and close team. We held many extra meetings and worked hard. Our project was music-themed. And luckily, our efforts were not in vain! We managed to win the Master Trophy at the second semifinal in Northern Estonia! Just before the finals, our robot's motor broke, and the computer started malfunctioning due to updates in the Spike app. This will probably stay in our memory for a long time. Despite this, we still gave our best in the finals and brought home the Core Values I Trophy! This season was incredibly fun and unforgettable!

SUPERPOWERED

FLL 2022/23 SUPERPOWERED: This year's team had five members in the beginnig, but since December, we were left to four – Mirtel, Oliver, Greete, and Karl Joonas. We are still "Laagri JR. Unicorns." This year, we were quite strong both in the robot game and with the project. However, both could have been done much better... Anyway, it was a very fun and close team this year. There were no virtual rounds this season! We held many meetings and worked really hard. Our project was about oil shale, and we also created a shadow play to present it. And as you can see, it all paid off! Namely, we unexpectedly won the Master Trophy in the second semifinal round in Northern Estonia! Of course, we also made it to the finals, which were held at Saue State Gymnasium. In the finals, we won the Robot Design II Trophy! This season was very successful.

CARGO CONNECT

FLL 2021/22 CARGO CONNECT: This was our third time at FLL, and once again we were "Laagri JR. Unicorns," but this time our team consisted of only Mirtel, Greete, and Janett. The theme of this season was Cargo Connect, and we chose the problem of food spoilage during transportation. This year, we performed a play about our project in the semifinals and created an animated video for the finals. For our team presentation and core values presentation, we made a (rap)song. This season, the semifinals were again held virtually. And we won the Tartu Science School Special Award Trophy, also once again, we made it to the finals, which took place in person at the Ahhaa Center.

Virtual judging.

REPLAY

FLL 2020/21 REPLAY: This season, our team name changed to "Laagri Blue Penguins". This was our team name for the 2020/21 FLL RePlay season. The Unicorns took a little break. Unfortunately, this FLL season took place entirely virtually due to COVID-19. During this time, our team consisted of five members: Oskar, Otto, Greete, Mirtel, and Janett. Our robot game performance was better, and our project was not any worse than the previous year. Our project solution was an app called "FitLemon", where you can do workouts and collect and trade cards. We also made a puppet play about our solution. This season, we won the Core Values I trophy and made it to the finals for the first time!

CITY SHAPERS

FLL 2019/20, CITY SHAPERS: In 2019, our team consisted of eight members – Mirtel, Greete, Otto, Kert, Saskia, Meribel, Eva-Lotta, and Janett. The team, Laagri JR Unicorns, participated in the FLL challenge for the first time, although some team members had previously competed in FLL. The theme was City Shapers. As a first-year team, our robot game performance was quite weak, but our project was relatively strong. We built a large pink "homeless shelter" prototype that could fit a person inside. Til this day we remind the shelter to ourselves and joke about it. We also used this in our play, which we staged as part of our project. That season, we won the Core Values II trophy and got to present our play on stage, but unfortunately, we did not make it to the finals.

From the left side: Saskia is holding the poster, with Gert next to her. Otto is wearing a blue costume, and behind Otto is Janett. Greete is doing a half split and holding up our research work. Meribel is holding onto the "homeless shelter" and Mirtel is lying on the ground on her stomach. Our mentor, Mai, is wearing an orange shirt. (Eva-Lotta was sick.)
